The site is funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. It contains resources for citizens, journalists in all formats, and links to articles, books, educational tools and professional guidelines. This national organization represents local public health agencies. It works to help improve the health of all communities by promoting national policy, developing resources and programs, and supporting effective local public health practice and systems.

A listing, organized by key word or alphabetically, for 2004 can be found on the Web. The organizations listed distribute information, provide referrals, and answer questions on specific topics. Many have Web sites or toll-free numbers. The key word lists have descriptive paragraphs for each entry, the alpha listing does not.

The American Alliance of Cancer Pain Initiatives (AACPI) helps health care professionals improve their ability to assess and manage cancer pain.
