KHDC-FM in Salinas, CA, partnered with Head Start and other local community agencies to produce La Placita Bilingue, promoting the health of young children living with Spanish-speaking farm workers' families in rural areas of California.

C.A.T. (Caring About Teens)

KZMU and Four Corners Community Behavioral Health produced Caring About Teens to raise community awareness about health and social issues facing teens living in Grand County, Utah. During one KZMU radio show--hosted by a 17-year-old--teen mothers, parents of teen mothers, and health care professionals talked about teen pregnancy. The project included a radio series, Web site, and a teen health fair.

Safe & Sound: Injury Prevention for Infants and Young Children

Learn how KWMU-FM in St. Louis, MO and St. Louis Children's Hospital produced in-depth reports, call-in programs and a special documentary to help educate the St. Louis community about injury prevention for infants and young children.

Youthtopia

KUSP-FM, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte and KION-TV engaged youth and their parents in a dialog about issues related to reproductive health, substance abuse, violence and health care access, and stimulate action toward improving conditions for youth in the central coast of California. The Youthtopia project combined the outreach expertise of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte with the high-quality public affairs programs produced by KUSP. KION-TV produced parallel coverage on its nightly newscast.

Teach Your Children Well

KCAW-FM in Sitka, AK produced 24 discussion programs on children's health with Raven Radio in partnership with three area health organizations: the South East Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), the Center for Community/Infant Learning Program, and the State of Alaska Public Health Nurse.

Diabetes Awareness and Prevention

Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN) and KNBA-FM partnered with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) to raise awareness of Type 2 diabetes among people in every region of the state and increase participation in diabetes prevention programs.
The project produced a series of news features, focusing on youth and native populations; local and national call-in programs; and public service announcements in native languages. The partners also hosted community wellness events at traditional gatherings.
