Aging: Help Others, for a Longer Life
According to a study being released today by the University of Michigan, helping others may help older people live longer. Researchers at the university's Institute for Social Research, looked at 423 men over 65 and their wives. People who described themselves as providing either emotional support to a spouse or tangible help to someone in another household were roughly half as likely to die in the five years that followed as those who did neither, the study found.
