National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA)

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA) works to inform Americans of the economic and social costs of substance abuse and its impact on their lives. With a primary focus on children, CASA's programs target effective strategies for prevention, treatment and law enforcement of substance abuse. Demonstration programs include 205 sites that test the effectiveness of drug and alcohol treatment, plus the development of protocols that will test the effectiveness of smoking cessation programs for adolescents. CASA reports and studies cover a wide range of topics in the substance abuse field. The CASA Web site includes a Newsroom with the latest reports and editorials on alcohol, drugs and tobacco.
