Los Años Dorados II (The Golden Years II)

KBBF-FM and the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging continue to provide information about chronic illness and related services to their community's Spanish-speaking senior population, their families and caregivers with their work on Los Años Dorados, their original Sound Partners collaboration.

During the project's first year, KBBF and the Sonoma County Area Agency on Aging developed outreach and provided illustrated case studies that promoted awareness about the area's health care services. The organizations are building on this work during the second phase of the project, Los Años Dorados II, by producing a series of twelve 30-minute interviews, twelve 60-second informative capsules and four 2-minute mini-dramas.

This format was used during Los Años Dorados I and, based on community feedback, was a valuable way of reaching the intended audience. The content of each program, capsule and mini-drama will be repurposed for a broader use in non-broadcast capacities, and all content will reflect information to which the chronically ill, relatives, care providers and the community can relate.

KDTV joins KBBF and the Area Agency on Aging this time around, extending the reach of the project by including audiences that rely on television as their primary source of information.

The partners' prior Sound Partners experience and the positive community feedback received when the project ended validated their collaboration. Both organizations felt that their work with Sound Partners opened a door within their community, which they wanted to keep open, and they agreed to continue informing their community through projects like Los Años Dorados.
