National Center for Outreach
The National Center for Outreach is a non-profit organization promoting "community engagement through public broadcasting." The Web site features a recent interview with Executive Director Maria Alvarez Stroud by Jason Guerrasio in the Independent Film and Video Monthly. The Outreach Library on their Web site has a good selection of links to Training, Youth, Community Development, Citizen Literacy, and Leadership sites. And you'll want to keep an eye on NCO's Connector Grant (next deadline: July 2004) which has the goals of "facilitating long-term initiatives centered around local community issues, building station outreach, impact, visibility and audiences, and maximizing efforts and resources." While some sections of NCO's Web site are still under construction, you'll want to bookmark it and check back for information on Community Partnerships, Measuring Impact, and the Public Broadcasting World.
